Stephen Hawking Says That God Did Not Create The Universe, But Who or What Did…?
Stephen Hawking says that the Big Bang was a result of the law of physics rather then an act of God.
The scientist claimes that there was no need for God to explain why the Universe was formed.
In his latest book, The Grand Design

In his most famous publication, A Brief History of Time: From the Big Bang to Black Holes
He wrote in the 1988 book: “If we discover a complete theory, it would be the ultimate triumph of human reason — for then we should know the mind of God.”
In his new book he rejects Sir Isaac Newton’s theory that the Universe did not spontaneously begin to form but was set in motion by God.
In June this year Prof Hawking told a Channel 4 series that he didn’t believe that a “personal” God existed. He told Genius of Britain: “The question is: is the way the universe began chosen by God for reasons we can’t understand, or was it determined by a law of science? I believe the second. If you like, you can call the laws of science ‘God’, but it wouldn’t be a personal God that you could meet, and ask questions.”
The book, co-written by American physicist Leonard Mlodinow, is published on September 9.

I am a great fan of prof Stephen Hawkins but I would like to dis agree with him on this fact as it may be obvious that universe was created according to the laws of physics and the quantum physics that states the creation of something from merely photons. But who decides the laws of physics. The laws of gravitation and friction. Who decided the condition under which the reactions would occur to create the entire universe. And even if we consider that energy was responsible for creation where did that energy come from because according to the laws of same physics energy can neither be created nor can it be destroyed. I am not a patron nor do I strongly believe in the books of genisis but believe in a power that created the universe. I am a scientist but believe that all science can do is just explain the laws of nature not create or challenge them.

i strongly disagree as a christian and a student, the message itself is strong but only to those you believe in the materialistic world alone, as i said im a student im in search for learning and understanding, and stephen hawkns staement doesnt help me,niether any of us move foward but lets us remain in the un-conclusional debate of science and God.I have one question “if the big bang was energy where and how did it come to what it is today”?

“Dr. John” is a recording artist. NOT a “doctor.” “White Spirit of god? The “tomb of Jesus Christ?” Where do you come up with these “conclusions?” Because THAT, is all they are and have no basis in reality. The “tomb” of which you speak, was “discovered” by the same kind of fanatic, that the man above is. The “dome of the rock” where Jesus’ supposed tomb was built over, was “discovered” by Hellen. The Mother of Constantine!! She….was a fanatic too. I’m surprised these fanatics cannot tell the difference between their own EGO, and “god’s” supposed “voice.” After all, Einstein said, imagination is more important than knowledge.” That does not infer however, that imagination is “correct.” Dream on my friend. The question raised by the scientists are beyond doubt explored time and again. The present, past and future would keep seeking answers which would be guesses till the nature reverses the cycle. Creation is cyclic and so is evolution…

I agree with Dishant…Mr. stepehen hawkings is a genius, but I would like to add that what is that form which makes him so genius..not everybody is as gifted as he is..
I will say, yes God does not has a physical for we can not directly communicate with him, but we can feel the presence. If one reads BHAGWAT GITA, one can see that Lord Krishna never said that universe has been created..he points to the fact that universe has a continuity…it renews from a pre-existing form…so we can say that giving God a physical form is not an intelligent idea may be, but considerin God as a supernatural energy can be the basis…after all energy is neither created nor can be destroyed..

What if I told you my PC, and my television appeared by accident millions of years after I put several chuncks of plastic and metal on the ground? Obviously you no this is not true. Even a little kid could figure that out. How much more complicated is the human mind and body, not even including our entire universe? Why think so deeply into a subject when the answers are right in front of you? Science points to inteligent design ie a God or Creator who stands outside of the space/time He created. It’s all in the Bible.

i am great fan of prof. stefen hawking. sir,i disagree this theory because if science has created all then how everything in this world work so proprly at perfect time parfect place for existence of life so there is a power who hold eveything. but by our discovery we are destroing it. stil we are not able to answer that science is boon or curse????

“Biography of Scientists”; Dr. Stephen; and “Dr. John”- I’m sorry; but that’s utter bullcrap. Multiple people have gone to heaven and returned (one of them was a four-year old kid who can’t even read and never had the bible read to him; as well as the daughter of two atheists; so no hoax) which I take us utter proof of a personal God; and only a personal God would create a universe with living beings in it. so WHAT NOW. and don’t waste your time with reprimands for rudeness; I don’t really care how rude I am when confronted with things like this.
I would also like to say that I love the general attitude of this thread; and would like to extend a huge hand of gratitude towards Dishant; godmanenki; Rixterer; and Tracy.
Oh and Sneha; that’s bullcrap; too; about not directly communicating. If you can’t directly communicate; then how have I been Saved? While I recognize that some prayers are actually forms of telikinesis in a way; some are actual communication.

According to The Grand Desighn “Because there is a law of gravity the universe can create itself from nothing. For gravity to exist there must be matter or can gravity create matter? Secondly in A Brief History…….Hawkings admids that God had a hand in the ceation of the world. Thirdly he said if a complete theory is discovered the mind of God wil be known. I think we are allready discovering the mind of God by discovering all the different theories. Forthly in contadictoin to Newton he says that God set the creation in motion. Fithly laws seams to be an ultimate to Hawkings. So if I presume that God allso created laws why can’t I personally meet Him and ask Him about these laws?

i am a big fan of prof Stephen Hawkin . i totally agree to the point of prof Stephen Hawkin as they have disscused above that the universe is formed naturaly and as being a student of science i cannot belive that the universe is created by god .
