Not too long ago Dean Radin, senior scientist at the Institute of Noetic Sciences (IONS) and founder of the Consciousness Research Laboratory at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, was invited to present to Google employes. Not many took advantage of this amazing opportunity but Google did make the video recording available for all via Youtube.
It doesn’t surprise me that Google is interested in the Noetic Sciences, after all they are always somewhat ahead of the pack. The presentation happened in 2008.
Dean Radin talks for more then 90 minutes, but time flyes by and especially the segments about historical government research are fascinating.

WHAT IS THE INSTITUTE OF NOETIC SCIENCES?

The Institute of Noetic Sciences aka (IONS) is a nonprofit research, education, membership organization exploring the frontiers of consciousness.

The institute’s purpose is to support research and education on consciousness, human potential, and personal and social transformation. Their primary activities include support for scientific and scholarly research; development of educational opportunities; hosting activities at their retreat center; paper- and online publishing; collaborative inquiry on critical social issues; and support for personal and professional networking. IONS works closely with numerous partner organizations and a global network of colleagues in the sciences, business, health care, education, and various other professional fields.

The institute is financially supported by approximately 20,000 members and friends located in all fifty United States and in nearly fifty countries on six continents who contribute through annual dues and monthly giving programs, gift memberships, and larger individual financial gifts. The institute’s board of directors also contribute significantly to the institute.

WHAT EXACTLY ARE NOETIC SCIENCES?

The word “noetic” comes from the ancient Greek nous, for which there is no exact equivalent in English. It refers to “inner knowing,” a kind of intuitive consciousness—direct and immediate access to knowledge beyond what is available to our normal senses and the power of reason.

Noetic sciences are explorations into the nature and potentials of consciousness using multiple ways of knowing—including intuition, feeling, reason, and the senses. Noetic sciences explore the “inner cosmos” of the mind (consciousness, soul, spirit) and how it relates to the “outer cosmos” of the physical world.
